Sea of Thieves Lore Compendium launched!

Sea of Thieves has a really deep lore, sadly it is very hard to find it, as it is spread out over comics, lore books and subtle ingame hints.

To celebrate 1.000 Twitter followers we have finally started working on a project we’ve been thinking about for a very long time. The Sea of Thieves Lore Compendium is a big library for all the aspects of Sea of Thieves Lore. We only use official sources like the Lore book, the art book and the comics to create it. This ensures that all information here is as accurate as it gets and speculation is kept out.

How to use the Lore Compendium

You can find the Lore Compendium in the Menu at the top of the Crew of Thieves website. It works similarly to a wiki, you can select a category from the dropdown menu and find all the entries for it. We also use a lot of hyperlinks in the text to connect entries so you can use those to navigate around certain topics. Keep in mind that this is just the base of a project that is going to grow every week!

Current State

The Lore Compendium currently has about 60 entries. This means that a lot of stuff is missing, some entries might be incomplete and a lot of images are just placeholders. Keep in mind that a lot of characters only appear on a single lore book page and do not have a lot of information attached to them. We still try to cover every single thing, so some entries can be a lot shorter than others.

The Lore itself

It can be hard for us to determine what parts of the lore are actually intended to be a core part of the lore and what parts result from inattentive writing in the lore book and other sources. This means that some things written in this compendium might make sense when you analyze every word of the lore but have not been intended that way by the developers and creators of the universe. That being said, information in here might be completely wrong at times but we will always try to edit and change entries according to the full knowledge at our disposal. There are more lore resources coming out, like the Sea of Thieves Athena’s Fortune novel, that might completely change some entries, so stay up to date and follow us on twitter to prevent missing news!

How can I find new entries?

new entries will shop up at the top of the Lore category page itself and in the “recent posts” widget. Aside from that, I will try to keep a list of the newest entries in our Discord.

I found an error, how can I report it?

If you find an error in one of the entries do not hesitate to contact me on Twitter, Reddit or Discord! We are thankful for every bit of help we can get. If the error is related to the lore please also have a source for your information, as we can not accept info that has been “confirmed by Mike Chapman” sometime last year.

Can you please cover topic x?

Sure! If you have any specific lore wishes please contact us on Reddit, Discord or Twitter and let us known. We’ll make sure to cover it as soon as possible.

How can I help?

Currently, this Compendium is not open source, so you can’t add entries yourself. You can either suggest topics or add to already existing entries by contacting us with your sources. If you want to write a full entry yourself then you’ll have to be able to give us the source of all information in it when asked. We will give you full credits in the entry.

Crew of Thieves Updates

Thank you!

First of all, I want to thank all the people that have supported Crew of Thieves over the past year. Whether it was by giving feedback, asking questions, answering my questions, making fun of Rare or even just visiting the website and sharing the content. Without you guys, I would have stopped doing this a long time ago and I am really proud to have built such an amazing community, Keep it up!

Current State

The Crew of Thieves website and content creation is currently a 1 man project. I write, do the research, find the pictures and do everything else related to the website/content creation. We had a team for a period of time, but over time most of us lost interest in the game.

This website looks horrible

Yeah, it does. Like I said above, this project is down to me right now and I can’t code or design, so even the most simple changes take me a lot of time. The long-term plan is to be able to afford to pay someone to redesign the website, but until then we will have to work with what we have.

There are too many ads

Ads are the only form of monetization I use and while I try to keep the user experience as good as possible, you might think that we have too many ads.

In that case, I want to inform you that all content on this website is fully available even if you turn your ad blocker on. You will get 1 pop-up about every month that can easily be closed by clicking anywhere on the page, aside from that you will have full access to the website and all of its contents.

Of course, I do appreciate it if you disable your adblocker on this website and support Crew of Thieves. The money goes into giveaways and a website redesign fund and will allow me to invest more time into this project.

Is there even any schedule or do you just write whenever you feel like it?

Consistency hasn’t exactly been my strength in the past few months, but I am working on a schedule. I invested a lot of time to get the base of the Lore Compendium up and will continue adding to it. I am also working on a schedule for the regular articles, I’ll be posting that soon. Follow Crew of Thieves on Twitter to make sure you don’t miss it.

Why do you write “we” instead of “I”?

There’s still a team behind the Crew of Thieves community on Discord and the members there help me a lot with the content creation, on top of that I got used to the “we” when we still had a full team. Sorry if it confuses you, “I” am David/M0m, “We” are Crew of Thieves and everyone that’s part of it.

Why do you watermark your pictures?

Crew of Thieves has had a lot of problems with other content creators stealing our content and claiming it is theirs. We are completely fine with people using our content, all we want is that you mention the original source and put a link to it in the video description/article. Aside from that, you can use the content as you please 🙂

Does Crew of Thieves have social media or a Patreon?

We do have a twitter where I will answer all of your questions, as well as tweet whenever there are news and events. You can find it here: Click

The long-term plan is probably to create a Patreon page for Crew of Thieves, but I do not want to have people paying money for my content before I can make sure that the content has a high quality and especially that it is delivered regularly. I will look into it further once I have a set schedule and have kept it up for at least a month straight.
